About Us

What is the Montgomery County Business Hall of Fame?

Presented by Grossberg Company LLP, CPAs and The Bergel Institute, the Montgomery County Business Hall of Fame (MCBHOF) is a celebration of individuals who have made a substantial impact on the Montgomery County business community.

Why support the Montgomery County Business Hall of Fame?

All net proceeds from the MCBHOF will benefit the scholarship programs at The Universities at Shady Grove (USG), the University System of Maryland’s regional educational center that brings nine Maryland public universities and more than 80 academic degree programs directly to Montgomery County.

The same type of vision that led to the creation of USG – to do something truly unique and extraordinary – is the type of vision our honorees all share.

About The Bergel Institute:

The Bergel Institute was founded by Dr. Mark Bergel, a member of the 2018 class of the Montgomery County Business Hall of Fame, following decades of work addressing poverty through A Wider Circle, which he founded in the living room of his one-bedroom apartment. That experience led to a question: when poverty and human trafficking persist, yet we have the ability to dramatically improve outcomes, are we ready to try something different? The Bergel Institute was established in 2025 to pursue those questions through partnerships with individuals and organizations seeking not only to better understand the causes of these enduring problems but to implement approaches capable of producing measurable change.
